Nine Inch Nails have just presented the world with another album completely out of the blue.
36 instrumental tracks, 9 of them for free and the rest of them available for about £3!
And if something I read on Something Awful is to be believed - he's releasing a data DVD of all 36 tracks in multi-track format (ie, remix central!).
Considering his instrumental stuff has contained some of his best music by far, this is good. He says it's "a soundtrack for daydreams". That probably means random synthy noodlings, but some bits are actually quite nice in an urban daydreamy way, and the rest is -utterly- bonkers but definitely interesting.

| | Front 242 | ] | Hello world,
I've got a few random people over from Argentina and Canada at the moment, and I'm getting a bit depressed seeing them go off to Cardiff's so called tourist attractions. Now the museum is nice and worthwhile, as is the castle. The arcades are nice shopping if you like shopping. But beyond that, it all gets a bit 'meh'. The Stadium - this is an attraction apparently, and costs something like £5.50 to get in!
I'm going to have more random people to stay in future and I'd like to offer them something a bit more inspired. Ideally, I'm looking for things you think are highlights of Cardiff - from the perspective of people who have mostly lived in it. Or gettable to by public transport.
Today I made a list of stuff on Google Maps, things I thought were nice places, photogenic, touristy but not terrible and that kind of thing.
Map of stuff (if this works you should see Cardiff, and a load of points of interest).
Can you think of any better things? What bits of Cardiff would you show off? |

| VODAFONE! GRRRRR! |
[Mar. 30th, 2007|04:28 am] |
Dear voicemail:
It is NOT acceptable to ring me at 4.26am, then 4.28am, to let me know that someone left me a message yesterday. Even more annoying is that Vodafone charge you to listen to your voicemail, and when you run out of PAYG credit (due to long phone calls to BT to get them to sort the phoneline) it keeps calling you up like a demented stalker, but you can't ring to listen to your message and shut it the hell up.
The other annoying thing is that I have to keep the sodding thing turned on, as it's my alarm clock at the moment and I have important moving / getting bond back type stuff to do tomorrow. Err, today.
Vodafone, I hate you with the heat of a thousand suns. |

| Car help needed,maybe. |
[Mar. 26th, 2007|11:36 am] |
Hi,
Does anyone know anybody who is good with cars, specifically cars with stupid keys that are different colours and do something mysterious involving red keys, blue keys, an ECU and an immobiliser.
I lost my car key in the darkness last night whilst moving stuff (and ended up stranded in splott, hurrah for taxis), and so far haven't found it again. The Fiat dealership want £750 to make a new fancy-ass key, which is a joke as the car isn't worth that.
Ebay have complete locksets for Fiat Puntos, but I haven't got a clue if getting one of these and getting it fitted would do the right thing.
I'm going back over to Splott flat to check around again in the daylight, but I have a sense of foreboding about this :/ |

List seven songs you are into right now, no matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good. They must be songs you're really enjoying right now. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.
Well, I'm doing this because I like music and I'm a bit bored whilst waiting for Initial Citylink to deliver a parcel. Nobody tagged me and I'm not tagging anyone because it's stupid and would just make 19 people cry because they felt left out.
With added myspacey goodness where possible, as I find words to be a crap way of expressing music.
Uno. http://www.myspace.com/solarfields Cocoon Moon, and Insum too. To me, it sounds like the soundtrack to wandering through a pine forest, on hallucinogenics. And no, it's not trance.
Dos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CD6VgRUE1y0 I Love You But Ive Chosen Darkness - The Owl To be honest, I'm not sure if I like this for the music or the video, since I encountered them together and they are hard to disentwine. I think I like both.
Tres(passers William) http://www.myspace.com/trespasserswilliam Different Stars
Fa(ll of Snow) http://www.myspace.com/fallofsnow I just love Stephanie's voice. Plus it's a nice touch when the band emails you to check that your CD survived a transatlantic crossing. All the songs on the profile rock me, but in different ways. Oh No Love is Action is my current fave.
Five. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBvaHZIrt0o Royksopp - Remind Me Fantastic video too....
Six. http://www.myspace.com/thebirthdaymassacre The Birthday Massacre - Happy Birthday TBM remind me of Type O Negative for some reason, though maybe not this particular song. Also, the sound quality on this is a bit pants on Myspace, it sounds like someone has gone mad and added lots of reverb to the entire track.
Seven. Jonathan Coulton - Re: Your Brains http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwWF7JHwS4w Zombie themed songs are always good. |

27th, 28th, 29th April.
Anybody know of anything entertaining happening on those dates - I'm a bit out of touch with when Bogiez, Judder, Inquo etc are on these days.... Doesn't have to be Cardiff as long as it's good. And is Barfly any good on a Thursday night for people who like that sort of thing? (Actually, it might not be Thursday - according to something on myspace that is their rock/metal/punk night, but the website makes it sound like it's more indie....))
Second question - any vegan eateries in our fair city?
Thirdly - a statement, I'm bored and it's less cold these days, would anyone be up for a fun trip out - hills, castles, forests, randomness? Something fun that isn't clubbing, basically. I'm thinking next week/weekend sometime. |

| Things. |
[Dec. 21st, 2006|12:05 pm] |
Living in Splott in a flat/cupboard, as many of you may have gathered, is a temporary experiment. Roath is the bit of Cardiff I actually like. Anyway, I've been househunting for a while now, and at last I'm buying a flat (subject to survey, and after making sure that it wasn't built on top of an Indian burial ground/nuclear waste dump), in Roath, with abundant space :)
It's in Connaught Road (which I love, because it has treeeeees and gigantic bay windows!), and it should be mine in about 3 months.
In other news, come the new year, I'll be setting up a business doing web work, PC repair type things, networking and projector hire. When it's fully ready, I shall put the link on here. This too is an experiment of sorts, but one that will work out if I can possibly help it. Do what you love and all that. I've got some good business advisors (BOS1830 - it's a Welsh Development Agency thing, so it's free) and it seems to be going well so far.
BTW - Who else is going to the Mexican tomorrow? |
